I am a big fan of owls since they are known as the holders of wisdom and capable of seeing the unseen. I came across this tutorial on the blog Juicy Bits and was immediately obsessed with making owls ornaments for the 2010 holidays. This past holiday season I decided to only make hand made gifts, for one reason I think they are more personal and the second being we are getting ready for a new baby (yay) the end of April so we are on a tight budget. The first idea was to make all family members an owl, that's the fun part. Next I needed to give these little guys some life or some meaning. After some research my husband and I put together a little story called "The Wishing Owl". The basic premise was to make a wish each year, write it in your book (see photo) and then see if you wish came true or if you outgrew your wish the following year. What I like about this gift is that it is not only cute, but the start of what I hope becomes a holiday tradition.
